JP and I are 4 weeks into our adventure, and we're already very attached to Baloo the plane. Together, we have flown over 4 continents and 8 countries - and counting!
We left California on the 21 August and we've flown across Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, England, Germany and are currently in Austria where our little plane is receiving some much-needed maintenance and servicing. It seems, when one is 10,000 feet up in the air, that borders do not exist. It's only when we touch down that you remember they do.
It's been such an incredible adventure so far and some of the experiences we have had - like flying over Greenland - are the most awe-inspiring of my life. I have met incredible people with amazing stories who are as diverse as they can be. But somehow the stories all have a similarity that is so intrinsically human.
I spent the last couple of days filming in the refugee camps on the island of Lesbos in Greece. I feel incredibly humbled by the warmth shown to us by people who have been displaced by war, then rejected by their neighbours. They embrace the spirit of this film, and motivate me to continue this important project. We will continue to seek out this beauty and to collaborate with creators from our Beyond Borders community and we hope you guys can get involved along the way, too!
We leave Vienna on 18th September, heading towards the Middle East then India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and hopefully Australia around the 10th October, if all goes well (exactly a month before the end of the flight!). I have captured such rich and interesting images and interviews, and I can't wait to get into editing and creating this film.
Keep watching my vlogs, and track us in realtime on our website.
